Jing Sheng Yu Product:Carry Pack Series
July 2017
A Choice That Brings Tea Even Closer to Daily Life—Beyond Zisha Teapot Brewing
For a long time, our Zisha teapot hand-brewed tea has been the gateway for many to experience Taiwanese tea for the first time. However, to truly make Taiwanese tea a part of everyone’s daily life, relying solely on our tea shops isn't enough. After all, Jing Sheng Yu doesn't have hundreds or thousands of locations; visiting us frequently isn't always easy.

Moreover, I believe that the act of brewing tea yourself is the most delightful part of the "Way of Tea." Even with a tea bag, there is something incredibly serene and beautiful in the process: watching the hot water touch the tea bag, smelling the aroma fill the air, and then starting your work while waiting for the essence of the leaves to release and the water to reach that perfect sipping temperature.

You might ask—wouldn't our existing tin-canned or boxed tea bags allow people to enjoy this pleasure? Well, I can only say that back then, I was younger and less experienced; I hadn't thought things through deeply enough. I have always believed that we could create a product that fits even more seamlessly into the rhythm of daily life.
The Evolution of Our Tea Bags
In terms of packaging, "tin" conveys a sense of cool detachment, while "transparent plastic boxes" feel more approachable, though still rigid to the touch. Regarding quantity, our tin-canned tea contains 20 bags and the boxed version has 8. Twenty feels a bit much, and honestly, both numbers were originally chosen mainly for pricing considerations. As for design, the aesthetics of the tins and boxes were simply products of their time, based on the brand's needs back then.

What if the materials could be friendlier and softer? What if we offered fewer bags per pack, allowing people to experience multiple flavors at once? What if the key visuals could visualize the flavors—so that merely looking at the design feels like tasting the tea? I imagined each visual brightening someone's mood and infusing their day with positive energy.

If these three wishes could come true, I believe Taiwanese tea would naturally draw closer to our daily lives, making the world a little more beautiful. With this vision in mind, we moved forward with unwavering determination. True flavor, always with you.
Packaging Designed with the "Five Elements" of Chinese Philosophy
hus, the concept of "One cup of Taiwanese tea every day, seven days a week" became the foundation of the Carry Series. To offer customers a diverse flavor experience each week, we curated five distinct flavors for this collection—offering more variety than our previous tin-canned or boxed tea bags.

For the visual design, we drew inspiration from the ancient wisdom of the "Five Elements" (Wu Xing). In this philosophy, the five elements represent both five distinct tastes and five fundamental shapes. Just as a single tea blend is a harmony of various flavor notes, the packaging for each tea features a unique composition of geometric shapes based on its specific flavor profile.

And so, the 7-pack Carry Series was born—featuring five flavors in convenient resealable zipper bags!
